St Johns Bible
Friendship House—Durham/Duke

Duke Divinity School is hosting the St. John’s Bible, an illuminated manuscript, during the 2019-2020 academic year.  We saw an opportunity.  Theological reflection is a regular part of our life together as we Eat together, Pray together, and Celebrate together!

We acquired prints of the St. John’s Bible illumination of the Lord’s Prayer and framed and hung them in each apartment.  It is our goal to sustain our reflection on the Lord’s Prayer all year.  To help us, we’ve arranged for Duke Divinity faculty who have written on the Lord’s Prayer to share their reflections with us.
The first of these came together with Dr. Stanley Hauerwas coming to our Sunday evening potluck supper.  In response to the celebration, joy, and fellowship of the evening, Alex wrote a reflection of what Friendship House has come to mean to him.

Next up, Bishop William Willimon!
